busy boy

Ethan has been busy at school, too. As with most 3 year olds, his attention span is only about 3-5 minutes per activity! Needlessly to say, he finishes "school" very quickly! Maybe next week I can offer him more activites. But, this week he has been busy -

busy boy

Ethan has been keeping busy during school, too. I have been trying to offer him different learning activities that go along with our units. I realize I could do a little more for him, but after a few activities he is ready to go play. And I try not to forget the importance of free play during the preschool years. I'm in no rush to start formal schooling him ~ after all, he is still my baby boy and I'm not ready for him to grow up!

busy boy

My boy has been so interested in school lately. I don't take alot of time to put anything "formal" together for him just some quick and easy activities. Although I am trying to get him to recognize the first letter of his name.

on a kick...

Do you ever get on a kick about something? Well, I'm on one now! I'm totally into making my little man tot books. He loves to have books read to him and by using tot books, we can explore all kinds of concepts like counting, ABCs, colors, shapes, sequencing and recognition of his name. And the cool thing is -he loves them and brings them to me for us to do together. I love that!

He loves the movie Cars! and I found a tot book at 1+1+1=1 to along with that movie.

concepts in this tot book -
name recognition
counting
colors
shapes

I've already made him a tot book to go along with the book Brown Bear Brown Bear and I'm currently in the process of putting together a tot book to go along with the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

brown bear, brown bear...

Ethan is really into reading the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? by Bill Martin Jr. I made him a tot book from 1+1+1=1 to go along with the book. He has had lots of fun playing with his tot book. Even the girls have had fun playing with his book!

tot school

Ethan is 2 and a half (my baby boy!) and while the girls and I are doing schoolwork, this is what he does for school...

He reads lots and lots of books.

He likes doing play dough.

He likes to color.

He likes to do pom-pom mats.

And, he really really likes to run and hide
with magic markers and color himself : )
