insect collages

(Sorry the picture is so dark!)

Here are the insect collages that we did last week to go along with The Very Quiet Cricket. I found the idea online somewhere, but there wasn't a picture to go along with the idea. So, I guess this is the way they are supposed to look! I just went to google images and found the insects and printed them out.

materials-
insect sheets
tissue paper cut into small squares
watered down glue
paint brush
scissors

directions-
1. print out insect sheets
2. pour a small amount of glue in a bowl
3. add just a little bit of water to the glue, mix
4. paint the glue mixture on the insect
5. place tissue squares on the insect, overlapping to form a collage look

Here's a look at our week based on the book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written by Eric Carle. I had a lot of fun putting this unit together and I hope the girls and Ethan liked it as much as I did! We made clothes pin caterpillars and painted with watercolors. Ethan is really into reading the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? by Bill Martin Jr. I made him a tot book from 1+1+1=1 to go along with the book. He has had lots of fun playing with his tot book. Even the girls have had fun playing with his book!
