all about nouns

The main reason I wanted to do a farm theme this week is because I thought it would be an easy way to introduce nouns. The girls picked up on nouns really quickly and we have done a few different activities about nouns so far. On the first day, I introduced nouns by telling them that a noun is a person, place or thing. I had them draw a picture of a farm and then we labeled the nouns together.

Another fun thing we did was do a noun collage. I had the girls clip nouns from magazines and glue it in the right category. I loved doing stuff like this when I was in school!

abc order

Another activity that we have done this week is putting farm words in alphabetical order. I cannot find the blog where I got this activity from. I hate it when I do that! Anyway, I love the graphics! ~ aren't they so cute?

*Edited - The alphabetical farm activity came from Fabulous in First. Thanks Jackie for finding it for me!

farm sensory tub

After seeing a couple of cute farm sensory tubs on pinterest, I knew I would have to put one together for the kids to play with during our farm themed week! I added a couple of small clear plastic containers after I snapped the picture for scooping and pouring practice and to feed the animals of course!

materials -
1 large bag of popcorn kernals
barn
tractor
farm animals
small containers

I am linking this post up to the preschool corner and our country road.

scrambled eggs!

This week we are doing a farm theme! I put together a sight word activity for the girls to do called scrambled eggs! I put alphabet letters in plastic eggs and had the girls crack open the eggs into a bowl and spell the sight word. Then they wrote the sight word on the worksheet I made to go along with this activity.

(I'm so over blogger turning my pictures! Does anyone know how to fix this?)
