The tree is up and there is a strong evergreen smell in the air! The lights are strung and we've been singing christmas songs for the past week or so! Today, I gave each child there own bag of homemade ornaments that we made last year to hang anywhere on the tree. It was so sweet to hear the girls remembering when we made the ornaments together. As they pulled their ornaments out, I loved hearing their oohhs and awws! I hope these memories will be happy ones for them, because they are for me!
This is what we made last year:
Now, I'm on the lookout for more ornaments to make this year! If you know of any, let me know!

Hey Tamela,
I saw this at Cracker Barrel and looked like it would be simple. It's a snowman made out of white buttons piled strung on top of one another. Different sizes for the body and progressively get smaller for the head. Use black buttons for the hat and if you want throw in a different color around the neck for a scarf or you could tie a fabric scrap or get creative with this part. Then I think you could just sharpie in eyes, nose and a smile. Hope this helps.....

thanks girl! that sounds soo cute and simple for the girls to make!
Very sweet ornaments! I'll have to remember some of these ideas to try with my kiddos!
how fun!! you could also make blown egg ornaments ~ we have one of those on our tree. :)
Wondering what the candy cane is made of? My kids could do that! :)
the candy cane is cut from a cereal box and I had the kids glue red and white pom poms on it. very simple!
