ladybugs!

Here is a close up of the ladybugs we painted lastweek.

materials-
flat rocks
red paint
black sharpie
paint brush

directions-
1. go on a nature walk with your kids and look for flat rocks
2. wash the rocks off with water to get rid of the dirt
3. allow the rocks to dry in the sun

4. paint the rocks red - let dry completely
5. use the sharpie to create the ladybugs on the rocks!

co-op class - astronomy

A few weeks back we learned about Saturn and I let each student make their own Saturn to take home with them.

materials-

styrofoam ball

old cd

paint

toothpick

directions-

1. cut the styrofoam ball in half

2. paint both halves of the styrofoam ball

3. let dry overnight

4. place a toothpick in the center of one of the halves

5. sandwich the cd between the two halves

*Our cd isn't staying in place, so if I were to do this project again, I would try glueing the 2 halves to the cd. If anyone tries this, let me know how it worked for you and what kind of glue you used!

Lastweek while on spring break, my sister in-law and I made skirts for our girls!

a visit to the pond

We have been on spring break this week and came back home to Georgia to visit with our family. Today we went to a park that is in our home town to feed the ducks and look for tadpoles. I thought it would be a great tie in since we have been learning about ducks and frogs! The kids loved feeding the ducks, but we weren't able to find any tadpoles because the water was way too muddy from the storms lastnight.
