i scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
This week was a short week for us. We finished up at co-op on Monday and headed home to visit family and friends for Memorial Day weekend. I think we actually only got in one day of schooling. I had fun planning and preparing this theme for the girls though! I got all of the printables from Making Learning Fun. I will say that there was a whole lot of cutting involved! So, we may do this theme again next week, just to make me feel better at how much time I put into cutting and stiching the felt ice cream cone! I still have a few things planned that we didn't get to do yet.

fairy tales
This week we did a fairy tale theme and used the knights and castle preschool pack from Homeschool Creations and the princess preschool pack from 1+1+1=1. I think the girls' most favorite activity was the princess graphing game! It's always a good sign when they choose to do something out of their workboxes when it's not school time! Ethan wasn't in the mood to do school this week so he mostly played and distracted his sisters, well, mostly distracted his sisters!

review week
Last week we did some review activities. Mainly because I didn't get around to planning a thematic unit! However, I do think taking some time to review is a good idea just to make sure that kids are remembering what they learned and it also gives you time to do some informal assessing.

sight word activity
Here is a new sight word activity that I put together for Gracelyn. I wrote out 4 sentences using sight words and some CVC words that she knows. Then I wrote each word from the sentences onto smaller sentence strips. She had to arrange the words in order to create each sentence. I think we both needed a new way to practice her sight words!

busy boy
Ethan has been keeping busy during school, too. I have been trying to offer him different learning activities that go along with our units. I realize I could do a little more for him, but after a few activities he is ready to go play. And I try not to forget the importance of free play during the preschool years. I'm in no rush to start formal schooling him ~ after all, he is still my baby boy and I'm not ready for him to grow up!

flower/garden theme
Last week we did a flower/garden theme for school. Of course I used the cute preschool pack from Homeschool Creations to load in their workboxes. I also put together a sensory tub for the kids to play with - which they loved!
