This year for reading and phonics, I decided to go with Abeka K5. I am using it with Gracelyn and Ella. In an attempt to save money on curriculum and supplemental materials, I am making up visuals to go along with their lesson plans. If you are not familiar with Abeka, they start out teaching/reviewing short vowel sounds. I plan to share my visuals with anyone who is using the Abeka curriculum, too.

I had found abeka books at the thrift shop last year (several crates worth for $20). I am still unsure how I am going to use it all as I don't have the full curriculum just bits and pieces. But I hope to figure out some cheap way to use them. My girls are only 3, 2 and 4 months right now. And we are doing letter of the week, starfall and progressive phonics for now. I really like your visuals. Where did you get the pocket holder you are using?

ReplyDeleteHi! I remembered that you were making your own stuff to go along with Abeka. Did you see the "special sounds" cards in the dollar section at Target?? If I didn't already have the ones from ABeka, I would've gotten them - great set of cards and for only $1!! Might save you some time.
